Yes. Dreadlist is a horror movie discovery and planning app with a catalog of more than 10,000 films, ranked lists, a private viewing diary, and a flexible Halloween countdown. Dreadlist brings the choosing and remembering into one place. You can browse horror films by decade, director, or subgenre, open an editorial ranking, mark films you have seen, and save a personal list in your own order. The same collection can help you choose tonight’s movie or build an October calendar. Dreadlist does not play the films: viewing links point you toward streaming services, rentals, and purchases where provider information is available.
Can I plan fewer than 31 nights?
Yes. Pick the number of films that suits you and choose the dates yourself. Seven Friday-night films, thirteen nights across October, a full 31-film challenge, and a three-film marathon all use the same planner. Several films can share a date. You can choose every title manually, replace a suggestion, change the order, and export the plan to your calendar. An unfinished night can move to another date without rebuilding the month.
How do we pick movies as a couple or group?
Create a private watch group, called a Coven, and share its invitation. Each person can nominate films, mark first choices, accept alternatives, and veto anything they would rather skip. The balanced picker uses films everyone has answered and accepted, then tries to give each person some of their first choices. You review the proposed lineup before saving its dates. If there are too few shared choices, the app shows the gap so you can add alternatives. You can also plan entirely on your own.
Where do the recommendations come from?
Start with Dreadlist’s editorial top 100 or smaller lists by decade, subgenre, and director. Onboarding lets you lean toward essential classics, a mix, or deeper discoveries. Editorial rankings are Dreadlist’s opinion, separate from your favourites and any external audience scores. The large catalog does not mean every film has a reviewed fear score, gore score, or content note; missing information stays unknown. No list can guarantee that a film will suit every viewer.
Does it include streaming subscriptions?
No. Set your country and the services you use, then check a film’s where-to-watch section. Free options are shown first when available, alongside subscription, rental, and purchase options. Availability changes, so confirm it with the provider before your movie night. A Dreadlist membership does not include access to Shudder, Netflix, or any other movie service.
How can I try it?
Open the Dreadlist web app in your browser and start exploring without an account. It is currently a free personal preview, with payments disabled. The membership page explains the planned free features and seasonal pass. There is no App Store or Google Play listing yet. You can try the planner on your phone or computer today, then return to your private library after Halloween to keep discovering and logging horror films year-round.
